The Interscholastic athletic program at Platteville High School is an integral part of the educational curriculum. Co-curriculars provides learning experiences not always found in other educational settings. Students gain development of leadership, cooperation, responsibility and decision-making.
Some sports are divided into two levels - JV & Varsity- while other sports are divided into three levels - freshman/sophomore, JV, and varsity.
The varsity level provides substantial opportunity for gifted and talented athletes. Squad size for some sports is limited and competitive tryouts will determine squad membership. Those judged to be most capable will receive the largest amount of participation time during contests.
A participant may select one sport per season and must have on file a valid WIAA physical card or alternate year card (opposite year of physical card), signed Co-Curricular/Athletic Agreement and Parent/Athlete Concussion Agreement, and pay a $75.00 activity fee (unless waived).
The WIAA requires that all students participating in interscholastic athletics must have a valid WIAA Athletic Permit Card on file. (Physical examination taken April 1 and thereafter is valid for the following two school years; physical exam taken before April 1 is valid only for the remainder of that school year and the following school year.)
An Alternate Year Athletic Permit Card is required to be on file for the school year that a physical is not due.
Students and parents must attend an Activities Code Meeting or, if unable to attend a meeting, watch the online video (available after 7/26/18).
