The Platteville Activities Complex will be the home to a brand new state of the art video scoreboard all thanks to the generosity of local philanthropist and entrepreneur, Cindy Tang and her family. This donation was inspired by Ms. Tang’s passion of software and technology and the benefits it will provide to student learning in the Platteville School District.
The Platteville Activities Complex Project is part of the $36 million facility improvement plan and referendum that was supported by the Platteville community in November 2022. The complex will feature a new stadium complete with artificial turf fields, bleacher, gathering plaza, concession building, and the new, state of the art video scoreboard donated by the Tang family.
Ms. Cindy Tang and her father, John Mathias, were the founders of Insight Industries, the first business in the Platteville Industry Park. Insight Industries specialized in software engineering solutions for the aviation industry and operates today as Belcan, LLC. Ms. Tang’s love of computers and technology and the role they play in education was the inspiration to making this donation. Her goal is provide relevant educational experiences for all students and giving those who do not have an interest in athletic competition the opportunity to participate in a different way.
“We are pleased to partner with Ms. Cindy Tang and her family to create learning opportunities for Platteville students,” says Jim Boebel, Superintendent of the Platteville School District. “On behalf of the district, we want to thank her for her unwavering commitment and continuous support of our students.”
The Platteville Activities Complex will host a celebratory open house event on Friday, October 13th, starting at 5:00 PM in the plaza. All community members are welcome to attend this event and revel in the result of what happens when a community comes together to support student achievement.
