Last week, the Platteville Regional Chamber hosted their Good Morning Platteville event with us! ☀️ . 👉 It was a great morning for all as the New Teaching Staff had the opportunity to meet members of the Platteville Community -- which also included a special visit from longtime Platteville educator, Mr. Bob Bennett! . Our Hillmen Football Team took a tour of the progress happening at the Activities Complex last week! 🏈 . Students in Miss Klas's Summer School Class got a glimpse of "Life on the Farm" last week! 🐴 . A special pony named Queen came to school to visit - Miss Klas taught these students all about horses including how to feed them and to care for them! . Students in Ms. Brockman's Wonders Down Under Summer School Class are learning all about music, culture, and traditions in Australia! 🇦🇺 . 👉 Yesterday, for Make Music Day, students made didgeridoos which are musical instruments that originated in Australia nearly 40,000 years ago! . #thehillmenway

Loads of fun happening in Mrs. White's Gym & Swim Summer School class! ☀ . This week, students constructed their very own boat made of aluminum foil and took paper clips to see how many their boats could hold without sinking! 📎 . #thehillmenway

Today we celebrate Juneteenth in our schools and community! ❤️💛💚 . Juneteenth is a holiday, celebrated annually on June 19, that remembers the day in 1865 when word came to enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, that they were free — two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863. Juneteenth became a national holiday in 2021.
